A Parents and Children Together (PACT) parenting project operates from within the Centre.
The PACT Team works to support families in the local community who are either expecting a baby or already have children under the age of five years.
The PACT Team is a multi disciplinary team. This means that there are different kinds of workers; Health Visitors, Nursery Nurses, Social Workers, Money Advice Workers and Family Support Workers.
The groups we presently have at the Centre support parents and promote play and the development of their children:
Play and Share - parents bring their children along to this group. It is like a play group. Most of the parents who come along have children between the ages of 0-3 years, but all children under the age of five are welcome to come along. As well as an opportunity for children to play and meet other children, it is a chance for mums and dads to meet other parents.
Triple P – this is a parenting course for mums and dads who want to attend a group to get advice and support regarding parenting issues as well as promoting their child’s development.
Infant Massage- Infant Massage is known to be beneficial for babies’ health and is shown to help babies and their parents to relax and have fun together.
Women’s Group- the aim of the women’s group is to support mums to get out and about to meet other mums. The group also works to improve self esteem and encourage women to consider their own needs, including future training and employment opportunities.
In the future we would like to develop other groups, we are thinking about a group for very new parents and a dads group.
